Auto Search for Artwork Settings

This panel allows you to save configure various settings which might be used by the Auto Search for Artwork functionality. With the exception of the text based settings, the default settings have been found to be fairly accurate.

Note that while every attempt has been made to avoid the choice of an incorrect artwork item, it is entirely possible that an incorrect choice can be made. Without visual verification of an artwork choice, errors are always possible. This is especially true with collections such as Louis Armstrong/The Best of Louis Armstrong. There are more than likely dozens, if not more, of different The Best of Louis Armstrong releases.

The auto search algorithm matches Artist/Album Artist and Album metadata against web data. The Remove qualifiers option may increase the probability of a match by removing text enclosed in ()s or []s at the end of an item. Multiple pieces of enclosed data may be removed. For example:

    (Deluxe Edition)

or

    [Live]

s

By default the search algorithm does not prioritize Album or Artist metadata. You can elect to prioritize Album or Artist metadata.

The Ignore if downloaded artwork is smaller option has two uses.

If the Save artwork URL option is set and artwork has been downloaded, the URL will be saved to a User Defined URL named AUTOSEARCH_ARTWORK_URL.

If the Save commercial URL option is set, artwork has been downloaded and commercial information is available, the commercial URL will be saved to a Commercial Information Webpage item.

When matching metadata Yate's fuzzy matching technology is used. The default settings only consider metadata matches greater or equal to 80%. You can change the threshold percentages for artist and album matches. Note that raising the values may cause more failures and lowering the values may cause a higher degree of incorrect results.

The auto search algorithm targets specific countries when searching for artwork. The default value of no country code will more than likely work as expected for North American users. You can specify any number of two character country codes to direct the search. The country codes may optionally be separated by spaces. When searching, the list is traversed left to right. The supplied disclosure button displays a menu listing countries whose associated country code will be appended when selected. A complete list of the two character country codes can be referenced at the following links:

Note: specifying multiple countries and/or the Multiple searches option may increase the possibility of a match, but will lengthen the amount of time it takes to detect that there is no match.

If you want to uniquely identify downloaded artwork you can specify text to be placed in the artwork item's description field. The field may contain any of the escape sequences described in Escape Sequences. The escape sequences are available from the field's context menu. You can use this field to uniquely identify artwork items downloaded by the Auto Search functionality. This can be useful while executing an action.
