Editing Multiple Items

The multiple item content views all share the same editing functionality. These views include: All Tags, Comments, Commercial Information Webpages, Equalization, General Encapsulated Objects, Lyrics, Official Artist/Performer Webpage, Private Information, Ratings, Relative Volume, Terms of Use, UFID, UDTI, UDURL and Unhandled items.

Every item displays a status. The status items can be: default (star), present in all files (full filled circle), non present in all files (half filled circle), initial no longer present image (down arrow), editing state no longer present image (pencil).

When more that one file is selected, you have the option of displaying a list of files which reference an item. The option is enabled by the Show File References context menu item. Subsequently the option can be disabled by the Hide File References context menu item. When showing file references is enabled a disclosure triangle will be available on each item to display the list.

Functionality is available via a context menu which may include the following:

Copy...
Used to copy various portions of the item to the system clipboard.

File Representation
Only available on the UDTIs and All Tags edit panels. Many UDTIs are normalized so that they have the same display name. This is done so that they can conveniently be accessed from within actions, regardless of the audio format. This item displays the file representations for a UDTI.

Note that various MPEG-4 UDTIs directly map to an atom. For example the normalized UDTI Apple Store Catalog ID is represented as a cnID atom. When this is the case the MPEG-4 item is displayed as (atom name). eg. (cnID)

Show Containing Edit Panel
Only available on the All Tags edit panel. When the selected item can be located on other edit panels the names of the edit panels will be displayed in a submenu. If an item is selected, the selected panel will be displayed.

New tag name Item
Used to create a new item in all selected files.

Add New Item
Displays a menu of all tag items which can be created on the All Tags edit panel. When a menu item is selected, the appropriate editor will be displayed. An item is created in all selected files.

Add Favourite
Only available on the All Tags edit panel. The menu displayed via Add New Item can be quite large. The favourites menu is a user configurable menu of tag types. The end of the menu has an item to configure the menu's content. When a menu item is selected, the appropriate editor will be displayed. An item is created in all selected files.

Edit
When one or more file references are selected, you will edit only those files. When an item (not a file reference) is selected, you will edit the items in all files associated with the item. On the All Tags panel, when an artwork item is selected, edit will display the selected item in the Artwork panel.

Show in Container Viewer...
Only available on the UDTIs and All Tags edit panels. When the value field contains JSON data, it can be viewed in the Container Viewer.

Set as Default
When the selected item has the concept of a default value and it is present in all selected files, you can make the item the default value.

Apply to all Files
The selected item is applied to all selected files .

Delete
When one or more file references are selected, the selected item will be deleted in only those files. When an item (not a file reference) is selected, the item is deleted in all associated files. On the All Tags panel, when you delete a simple tag such as Artist, Album, etc. you are setting the field to empty. The item will be removed from the display.

Revert All to ... Initial Values
This will revert all tags supported by the edit panel to their initial values.

Revert All to ... Editing State Values
This will revert all tags supported by the edit panel to their editing state values.

Change File Selection
Changes the main window file selection to the items selected in the panel.

Recreate Item(s)
Used to recreate individual removed items without reverting all items. This is not available on the All Tags panel as it only supports current values.

View
Views an item's content in the Log Viewer for binary data items. Artwork items will be displayed in the Artwork Viewer.

Export
Exports a binary item's content to a file.

Dump
Exports a binary item's content as a hexadecimal dump to a file.

Double clicking on an item is typically equivalent to the Edit menu item. There are a few exceptions:
