An Apple application's Media Kind metadata is mapped to Yate's Media Type field. When setting the media kind, any value other than one of the following is ignored: Audiobook, Alert Tone, Booklet, Home Video, iTunesU, Movie, Music, Music Video, Podcast, Ringtone, TV Show, and Voice Memo. The Music and TV applications will ignore certain settings. For example you cannot change the media kind of a video file to be Music.

Classical metadata refers to the fields: Work Name, Movement Name, Movement Number and Movement Count. The proper understanding of what has to be done to properly synchronize classical and grouping metadata can be found in iTunes, Classical Metadata and the Grouping Field.

When interfacing to the TV application, Classical metadata and Loved/Disliked are not supported. While you can still use the metadata in Yate it is never imported from or exported to the application. Note that Loved/Dislike is visible in the TV UI but the corresponding interface has been removed from the AppleScript support.

Note that while the reading and writing of a metadata type may be supported it does not necessarily guarantee that the application will use the values.
