Manually Installing Required Components

On MacOS 10.12 and earlier, Yate requires an additional component to assist in the calculation of ReplayGain values for FLAC files.

Yate can also optionally use an additional component to assist with the extraction of audio properties of MPEG-4 files which are not AAC or ALAC.

Typically you will be prompted to automatically install these components when Yate is first run. You can also force an installation via Yate>Setup>Install Additional Components. If you are running Yate in an environment which either has no web access or limits the connectivity, you can perform the following steps to manually install the components on a Mac where you have web access. The procedure to follow depends on whether you are running the current or old Mac version of Yate.

You can determine which version you are running by examining the version number via Yate>About Yate.

If the displayed version string contains an OM, you are running the old Mac version.

In the following steps NAME is used as a placeholder and has to be replaced. If you are not running the old Mac version, all occurrences of NAME are to be replaced with Bin7. If you are running the old Mac version, all occurrences of NAME are to be replaced with Bin7F.

• On a Mac with web access, use a browser to download the file at:
  
      https://2manyrobots.com/Updates/Yate/NAME.zip
  
  
• Copy the downloaded NAME.zip file to the Mac running Yate. All subsequent steps are on the Mac running Yate.
  
  
• In the Finder go to the following folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Yate
  
  
• If the Library folder is hidden you can use the Finder's Go menu's Go to folder menu item. Paste in the above folder as the destination folder.
  
  
• Copy the downloaded NAME.zip file to the above folder.
  
  
• If a folder named bin exists, delete it.
  
  
• In the Finder window, select the NAME.zip file and from the context menu select Open (or double click on the item).
  
  
• A NAME folder will be created and will contain the required additional components.
  
  
• Rename the NAME folder to bin.
  
  
• You can delete the NAME.zip file.

Note: if for any reason you have to repeat this procedure on a later release of Yate, you must examine this topic again. The bin7 and bin7F names may change.
