Release information is encoded as: CC-YYYY-T#-M#-(RC). CC is the country code of the release. YYYY is the year of the release. T# is the number of tracks in the release. M# is the number of media items in the release. (RC) is the number of displayed tracks which are contained in the release. The country code will be preceded by a check mark (✓)if the release is estimated to be the earliest release of the track in the available data. If the release has been determined to contain all of the current tracks the display text will be preceded by a ☆ or a ★ if it has been determined to be the best release match.
ArtistThis column displays an artist name.
TimeThis column displays the duration information in seconds. This column is empty for releases.
ID or Rec/Rel IDThis column displays the presence of a MusicBrainz release ID or recording ID. A R character is displayed to indicate that the ID exists. If you resize the column, the actual ID will be displayed. One purpose of this window is to import album, title and artist information associated with information in MusicBrainz. Note that this process does not require accessing MusicBrainz. Along with the album, title and artist information it is possible to import MusicBrainz track (recording) and album (release) IDs. These IDs assist in Yate's MusicBrainz matching algorithms.
Another purpose of this window is to display a MusicBrainz release in the MusicBrainz Wizard. When this is done, all displayed tracks in the launched release will be mapped. Note that when the MusicBrainz wizard is launched in this manner the Auto add files option is disabled. However you can manually perform the operation by using the context menu in the wizard's mapping display. Note also that the automatic execution of an action, post importing is disabled.
This window can also be used to extract earliest release information. The algorithm weighs track contained title fields against recording title fields looking for the earliest year information. The earliest release is the release which has the best score. Note that releases with durations that differ more than five seconds from the track's duration are ignored. Also recordings with no available release year are also ignored.
The window's context menu supports six different import variants. All these functions work on the currently selected items in the table. At most one instance of each metadata type will be imported to a track for each operation. That means if you're importing the Album and multiple releases are selected for the same track, only the first album name will be imported.
The following functions are available from the table's context menu.
- Select Current Release Where Possible
- When a single release is selected this will select the same release in all tracks.
- Select Best Release Containing All Tracks
- Whenever this window is opened a test is made to see if there is more than one track. If that is the case, a further attempt is made to determine which releases contain all of the selected tracks. If there is more than one possible release candidate, the Preferred Country Codes setting is used to determine if a preferred match can be found. If a preferred match cannot be found the preferred match will be an arbitrary release which contains all the tracks. This function will select all the tracks in the best release or display why there is none. Once a best release is selected you can use the various Import functions to import the associated data.
