Rename

Rename will rename selected files and/or folders via the chosen rename template. The Rename menu lists all user defined rename templates. If the Option key (configurable in Settings - General - Advanced - Modifiers to display function submenus) is held when a menu item is selected, a submenu with the following items will be displayed:

Edit...
The rename template will be displayed in the appropriate template editor.

Locate...
The rename template will be highlighted in the appropriate settings panel.

The name of the rename template
The selected rename template will be applied.

The Rename to Initial Filename menu item will attempt to rename the selected files to the filenames they had when first loaded.

The menu may also display a submenu called Actions. Any action which is marked as being on the Rename menu in the Action Manager will be included in this menu. This is a convenience to quickly locate actions which are designed to extend the capabilities of the Rename mechanism. Selecting an action will run the action.

By default, selecting an menu item on the Actions submenu will run the associated action. If the Option key (configurable in Settings - General - Advanced - Modifiers to display function submenus) is held when a menu item is selected, a submenu with the following items will be displayed:

Edit...
This menu item will open the selected action in an Action Editor window.

Locate...
This menu item will open the Action Manager and the selected action will be highlighted.

The name of the action
If selected, the displayed action will be run.

You can find additional information on renaming in Settings - Rename.

Warning: If you are linked to an Apple application and the application has Settings-Advanced/Files-Keep Media folder organized set, renaming files in Yate will more than likely not have the desired effect. When this option is set, the Apple application may rename the files back to its preferred format.
