Using Yate with Multiple Displays

When manipulating artwork, Yate has to know if your Mac has a Retina display. When your Mac only has a single display, this is trivial. When you are using multiple displays the configuration, the possible use of a dock and the OS version can all affect the proper detection of a Retina display. You can override the default settings using the Settings - General - Advanced Determine if Retina display adjustments are required setting. Note that you should only modify this setting if you are using multiple displays and you feel you are having issues. The most obvious problem can occur when automatically scaling artwork. If you are seeing artwork twice or half the size you expect, you should try modifying the setting.

The reason for all this confusion is that the determination of the presence of a Retina display is associated with a screen's properties. However, Yate modifies artwork in a screen independent manner. The produced images are based on an absolute pixel size.

The setting has the following values:

From Main Window
The properties associated with the main window are used to determine if adjustments have to be made for a Retina display.

From Main Screen
The properties associated with the main screen are used to determine if adjustments have to be made for a Retina display.

Always Available
Adjustments for Retina displays are always performed.

Never Available
Adjustments for Retina displays are never performed.

Using All Screens
This is the default value. If any screen is a Retina display, adjustments for a Retina display will be performed. This setting seems to work best when multiple displays are attached and they have different capabilities. It seems as if screen independent image manipulation is tied to the presence of any Retina display.
