General Settings

When opening an Album database or Track database you can choose to load the images from folder icons, folder.jpg files or to disable the loading of images.

Album databases can attempt to locate all the tracks in a particular album. This functionality is only enabled in Album databases containing a Yate Album ID column. You can specify a default Track database to serve as the source of the tracks. Note that the default Track database must also contain a Yate Album ID column. If no Track database is specified, Yate will look for an open Track database containing a Yate Album ID column.

You can also specify a default album database. Currently this is only used by the File>Show in Default Album Database function.

When inline editing values in a track or album database and the associated files are loaded, you can automatically update the files. This feature is initially on but can be disabled. Note that the setting only controls edited cells in the database and is not applied to cells modified by a context menu function.

A Track database will have an Add to Staging Playlist context menu item. You can choose to hide the item if the staging playlist is not open.

You can enable the Delete key as a shortcut to the Delete Rows function via the Allow the Delete key to be used as a shortcut to Delete Rows setting.

When writing .tsv files, Excel may enclose a cell in double quotes, depending on the cell content. If you set the When reading Tab-Separated-Value files, remove double quotes enclosing cells setting, enclosing double quotes will be internally removed. Additionally sequences of two double quotes will be changed to a single double quote. Be aware that it is valid to have a cell enclosed in double quotes. Valid cases will also be modified, if the setting is enabled. If modification are made to a file due to this setting, the file will be marked as modified.

You can elect to have open databases updated whenever you Save files. You can choose to update only those items already in a database or to add new items as well. The update is performed whenever a Save, (File or context menu), is issued. The option has no effect when saving from an action statement, closing files, or quitting the application. Note that this setting is also on the File List settings panel.

Appearance Settings

You can set default display options for databases. These are the settings that will be used if you do not set view settings in the database via the context menu's View Options item.

You can keep the system default white background, have an alternating line background or you can choose a custom background colour. The text colour will appropriately be set to black or white.

You can choose to draw a grid around the cells in the main table display. Dashed Grid draws dashed horizontal lines. Solid Grid draws solid horizontal lines. The grid presentation depends on the OS version.

You can set the font size to be used in databases. This is the font size which will be used unless the font size is changed in a database viewer.

The following columns can be configured to display alternate strings: Rating, Love, and Yes/No columns. When the display strings are set, they will display as opposed to the numeric internal vales. Note that while editing cells in these columns, the internal values will display. Be careful as spaces are significant in the fields. If a field contains a single space, it is not considered to be empty. These types of columns can also be edited by double clicking on a cell in the column. Yes/No columns will toggle. Rating and Love columns will display a menu with symbolic values.

The following alternate strings may be configured:

Rating 1-5
This represents the value used to generate a rating of 1. The string is duplicated for successive rating values. Note that if this field is empty, the Rating 0 setting is ignored.

Rating 0
This field is used to represent a rating of 0. If the Rating 1-5 field is empty, this field is ignored.

Loved
This field is used to represent a love value of 1. If the Disliked field is empty, this field is ignored.

Disliked
This field is used to represent a love value of -1. If the Loved field is empty, this field is ignored.

Neither
This field is used to represent a love value of 0. If either of the Loved or Disliked fields is empty, this field is ignored.

Mixed
This field is used to represent a love value of ???. This is only meaningful with Album Databases. If either of the Loved or Disliked fields is empty, this field is ignored.

Yes
This field is used to represent a value of true (Yes)

No
This field is used to represent a value of false (No). If the Yes field is empty, this field is ignored.
