ReplayGain / Sound Check

These menu items are used to calculate ReplayGain and Sound Check parameters. ReplayGain functionality is currently not available for APE, DFF, DFS, OGG and WV files. Sound Check is not available for APE, DFF, DFS, FLAC, OGG and WV files.

The following functions are available:

Calculate Track ReplayGain
The per track ReplayGain parameters are calculated.

Calculate Album & Track ReplayGain Based on all selected files
Album and per track ReplayGain parameters are calculated. All selected files are assumed to be in the same album.

Calculate Album & Track ReplayGain Based on the Album Field
Album and per track ReplayGain parameters are calculated. Albums are grouped based on the Album field. Tracks with an empty Album field, will not have the Album parameters calculated.

Automatically Calculate Sound Check
This is an on/off setting which applies to the above three functions. When on, Sound Check values will be automatically calculated.

Calculate Sound Check
The Sound Check value is calculated. This function requires the presense of the ReplayGain track values. If the values are not present, the Sound Check value will not be calculated.

The calculated ReplayGain information is stored in normalized UDTIs named: ReplayGain Album Gain, ReplayGain Album Peak, ReplayGain Track Gain and ReplayGain Track Peak. All previous values are removed before the process starts.

For MPEG-4 files the produced Sound Check is stored as a UDTI named iTunNORM. For all other valid file types the item is stored as a Comment named iTunNORM.

These functions use the LUFS value and Sound Check offset as specified in Settings-Audio-General.
