Set Using Rename Template

This statement is used to populate a named variable or fields in all selected files. A specified rename template is used to generate the text. The template field supports any of the escape sequences described in Escape Sequences.

Which fields or text strings you are processing is discussed in Statement Source/Target Determination. The same topic describes the ability to treat each field or named variable as a list where each list component will be processed.

Note that Folder Start sections and IfDup tokens are not processed. Only the filename portion of the template is used.

The following configurable rename settings are ignored:

Invalid character substitution

No characters are replaced and no characters are treated as invalid. This includes leading periods.

Space handling

No space removal or compression is performed except if overridden in the template's advanced settings.

Multi Value Delimiter substitution

No Multi Value Delimiter substitutions are performed unless explicitly specified via template tokens.

Automatically truncate path components

No automatic truncation occurs. Truncation can be specified via rename template tokens.

An empty result is valid.
