Automatically Running an Action When Saving Files

If you wish to provide additional processing when saving files you can do so. In Settings-Actions enable the Auto-run on Save setting and choose an action to be run. The action will be run when:

• Saving via File>Save or an assigned shortcut.
• Saving via the main window's Save context menu item.
• Saving via the Save toolbar icon.

Note that the action will not be run when:

• Saving via the File>Save Selected Files menu.
• Saving by an Action Save statement.
• Auto-saving files via the Batch Processor
• Saving files as a result of closing them.

The sequence of processing is as follows:

• The main window's file selection will be changed to all modified files.
• The designated action will be run.
• Unless the action is cancelled, all modified files will be saved.

If you wish to disable the running of the action you must uncheck the Auto-run on Save setting. Renaming the action in the Action Manager will simply change the name of the action to be run.

Note: If Settings - File List - When saving files is set to one of the Update Existing Items... settings, the updating will only occur if the action was not cancelled and the action was not terminated by one of the Stop Action and function statements.
