Spotify Playlists - Getting Started

 

In order to use the Spotify Playlist actions you have to have certain Spotify activation information. This is done by creating an application on the Spotify site. Note: if you have already gone through the creation process and for some reason you want to reconfigure the actions, skip to step 12.

Step 1

If you do not have a Spotify account you must create one.

Step 2

Go to your dashboard: Spotify Dashboard.

Step 3

Log in if necessary.

Step 4

If you are not redirected to your dashboard click on your account button at the upper right of the page and select Dashboard from the displayed menu.

Step 5

Accept the Terms of Service.

Step 6

Click on Create App.

Step 7

Enter any name for the App Name. eg. Create Playlists

Enter anything for the App Description. eg. Create playlists from audio files.

The Website field can be left empty.

The Redirect-URI field must be set to: yate-callback://spotify

Check the Terms of Service checkbox.

Click on Save.

Step 8

At this point your application should have been created. If you do not see it, click on your account button at the top right of the window and select Dashboard from the menu.

Click on your application and then click on the Settings button.

Copy and save the Client ID field. You'll need it to configure the actions.

Click on View Client Secret.

Copy and save the Client Secret field. You'll need it to configure the actions.

Step 9

Go to the Spotify web page. Log in if required.

Step 10

Click on your account button at the top right of the window. Select Account.

Step 11

Copy and save the Username. You'll need it to configure the actions. Note that your username may not be the same as your display name.

Step 12

Run the Spotify Activation Configuration action and follow the prompts by pasting in the data you saved.
