Export to Apple App

This function allows you to export information from the current selected files to iTunes. Note the operation only works on selected files which are linked. When Use defaults is checked, the values which get exported depend on the fields selected on the Settings - Apple Apps - Fields of Interest panel.

The Clear Album Rating option will remove a track's associated album's Album Rating. This will ensure that ratings being exported are correctly set in an Apple application.

Classical metadata refers to the fields: Work Name, Movement Name, Movement Number and Movement Count. The proper understanding of what has to be done to properly synchronize classical and grouping metadata can be found in Classical Metadata and the Grouping Field. Warning: If you are not setting the Maximum Grouping-Work Name Compatibility option, you should not export (or auto-export) the classical metadata to an Apple application. Exporting the Work Name field to an Apple application under this condition will cause you to lose your Grouping metadata. For this reason it is a good idea to not enable the classical metadata options in Settings-Apple Apps-Fields of Interest or Settings-Apple Apps-Auto Export.

Depending on your Settings - Apple Apps settings, some metadata such as ratings, play counts, etc. may automatically be exported by the Save function.

iTunes 12.5 introduced the ability to manually set the Media Kind which is associated with Yate's Media Type field. The handling of this field in conjunction with Apple applications is problematic as the applications only read the metadata in MPEG-4 files and only when the files are first added. The Apple applications never read or write the low level data in the audio file other than when it is first added. Yate has the ability to tell the applications to update the Media Kind field to a specific value. The Apple applications will refuse to process some settings. For example you cannot change the media kind of a video file to be Music. When the Media Kind option is selected in this statement, Yate will attempt to force the following media types: Audiobook, Alert Tone, Booklet, Home Video, iTunesU, Movie, Music, Music Video, Podcast, Ringtone, TV Show, and Voice Memo. Note that the Music and TV applications do not support all Medis Kinds.
