Save Files / Save Selected Files

The File menu's Save function will save modifications in all open files. Only files which have been modified will be written. Note that once you save your changes you can no longer revert to the previous values. The new saved copy becomes your revert point. This menu item can also be used to save an Action Editor window's content.

The Save function on the main window's context menu will only save changes to selected files which are modified.

When linked files are saved, Yate will automatically tell the Apple application to refresh its metadata. You can manually tell an Apple application to refresh its data for all selected files via the Action>Refresh Apple App menu item and via the Refresh Apple App action statement.

The Save Selected Files menu has four items:

Save if Modified
Save the selected files if they have been modified. Note that this is equivalent to Save when invoked from the main window's context menu.

Save Always
All selected files will be saved whether they are modified or not. This is useful when changing audio settings and you want to force a save.

Save Freeing Space if Modified
Selected and modified files will be saved. Free space will be reclaimed to the Padding value on the Settings-Audio panel. Note that this does not require that the Remove free space option be set.

Save Always Freeing Space if Modified
All selected files will be saved whether they are modified or not. Free space will be reclaimed as described above.

Completely Remove All Tags
If confirmed, all tags in the selected files will be completely removed. The editing state is updated before clearing the tags so you can do an Edit>Update Editing State to restore the tags even after the save takes place. Tags which have been configured to be written each time a file is saved will not be written. Note that for all audio formats with the exception of MPEG-4, OGG and Opus, the object encapsulating the tags is removed. In FLAC/OGG/Opus files the vendor identification (typically mapped to Encode BY) is removed (FLAC) or emptied (OGG/Opus). In MPEG-4 files, free space in the tagging area greater than the free space padding setting will be removed.

It is possible to have an action run automatically when you save files. See Automatically Running an Action When Saving Files for more information.
