The Movie DB - TV Importer

The Movie Database (TMDb) is a community built movie and TV database and is an excellent source for information on movies and TV shows.

Yate allows you to search TMDb in order to extract metadata and artwork for files which contain a video track.

Note that this importer assumes that any file which contains video is a TV show in the same series. To search for metadata for movies use the The Movie DB - Movie Importer.

Select one or more tracks which contain video and start the importer. Note that any selected tracks which do not contain video will be ignored. This importer is intended to work on a single show at a time. All selected files which contain video will be assumed to be an episode of the same show. All episodes (files) must either have data in the Season and Episode fields or have date formatted as S##E## in the filename.

You must first search the database by specifying the metadata to be used. The Show field is the only mandatory field. The field will be populated with a consistant Show Name field or a consistant show name extracted from the filename. Hint: remove all extraneous information such as year from the title.

The remaining search fields either filter the searched metadata or can in some cases contain the language used to return textual information. The Year field restricts the search to a particular year. The field is initially populated with the contents of the file's Year metadata.

The language code is an optional field formatted as follows:

   ll
or
   ll-cc

Where ll is an ISO 639-1 language code. cc is an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code. Setting this field may produce text other than the default of English. You can use the disclosure buttons to add the codes based on partial list of languages and countries.

The Import Settings panel allows you to specify what you'd like to import. Note that the Results panel is only accessable when there are results to view.

When your search criteria and import settings have been set, click on the Search button. When the search has completed a list of potential matches will be displayed on the Results panel. At this point you can still make changes to the import settings. The Overview button will display descriptive text for the selected match (as will double clicking). If you are happy with a match, click on the Import button. This will then download the required information which will be saved to the files.

After importing, the importer will terminate.
