Find Multibyte Characters in Fields

This action is used to identify multibyte characters in specified fields. Multibyte characters cannot be displayed in Latin-1 (ISO-8859-1)and are Unicode characters.

Specified fields are re-encoded with the Fold Characters function prior to testing. More information on character folding can be found here. The pre folding is performed as the rename functionality folds characters when encoding is set to Force Latin-1 is specified.

The action can be run from the Mult Field Editor or a field's associated function button. When run directly, the following fields are always examined: Album, Album Artist, Artist and Title. If any multibyte characters are found, results will be displayed in the log viewer.

The action can be called from another. The following holds:

• Named variable Fields can optionally contain the list of fields to be processed. The fields are separated by commas (,) newline characters (\n) or the default list delimiter (\~). If named variable Fields is empty, the following fields will be processed: Album, Album Artist, Artist and Title.
• Upon return the action test state will be true if no multibyte characters were detected, otherwise the action test state will be false and named variable Results will contain the output.
• No track variables are modified.
• Various named variables are modified. If you look at the Find panel while displaying the action, it can display the used named variables.
