Logged Rename

This action is designed to support additional choices when renaming filenames. When renaming a file would require a name of an existing file you can skip the file; keep both; delete the file or move the file. Note that if a filename would result in a name which is visually the same as the previous name, no rename is performed. For that reason do not use the action if you are changing the Unicode encoding.

The action cannot be run in the Batch Processor. Additionally the action can only be used when you are only modifying the filename ... ie. not folder paths.

The action logs everything to a file at:

~/Documents/Yate/action name.txt

Each time the action is run a configuration panel is displayed. You can get help for any row in the configuration tabe by selecting the row and hitting the spacebar.

The following settings are displayed in the configuration panel:

Replacement set

You must select a rename template. The template must not contain any Folder Start tokens. Additionally the template must contain duplicate handling tokens:
❨Title❩
❨IfDup❩
     (❨Dup #❩)
❨endIf❩

The control to the right of the field will display those rename templates which meet the requirements.

Duplicate Folder

You must select a folder to receive the files you elect to move.

Close moved files

When the action terminates, files which were deleted are automatically removed. You can elect to also remove files which are moved.

Flush the log

The produced log file will persist until it is deleted. When you enable this setting, the log file will be flushed at the start of action processing. The log file is located at: ~/Documents/Yate/action name.txt

When the action finishes a summary panel will be displayed.
