Preference List Utilities

A set of three utilities for preference lists

Import a Text File to a Preference List

This action is used to import list items from a text file. You are prompted for the text file and a list.

Empty lines and leading and trailing spaces on each line in the file are ignored.

When running the action you can choose if case insensitive duplicates in the file overwrite or preserve the item already in the list.

Export a Preference List to a Text File

A selected preference list is exported to a text file.

Find Duplicates in a Preference List

This action looks for duplicates in a preference list. The action uses the List Manipulate action statement's Identify Duplicates function to find the duplicates. All of the action statement's options are enabled.

All spaces are ignored. The comparisons are case and diacritic insensitive. Punctuation is ignored.

A leading article found in the Natural Sort exception set is ignored when comparing items. This means The Rolling Stones would be a duplicate of Rolling Stones as long as the set contained 'the'.

A suffix which is found in the Sort Form Suffix replacement set is ignored when comparing items. Note that set elements marked as + are not considered. If the set contained the word 'band', Dave Matthews Band would be a duplicate of Dave Matthews.

If any duplicates are found they will be displayed in the Log Viewer. The contents of the Log Viewer can be saved to a text file.
