Twenty Sample Rename Templates

This action is provided to make it easier to install the contained rename templates. The bundle can be installed from Settings - Rename - Install sample rename templates.

The following rename templates are included:

Sample: Album -> Folder

The containing folder is renamed to the Album field.

Sample: Album Artist - Title -> Filename

The filename is renamed to Artist - Title.

Sample: Artist - Title --> Filename

The filename is renamed to Album Artist - Title. Note that if Album Artist is not defined, Artist is used.

Sample: DiscP2-TrackP2 Title - Album Artist --> Filename

The filename is renamed to one of dd.tt Title or tt Title. dd is the disc number and tt is the track number.

Sample: Open Filename - Variable 1 --> Filename

The filename is renamed to the filename when the file was loaded followed by the contents of Variable 1. This template will only work when renaming from an action.

Sample: Title --> Filename

The filename is set to the contents of the Title field.

Sample: Title -> Filename, Album -> Folder

The filename is set to the contents of the Title field. The containing folder is renamed to the contents of the Album field.

Sample: TrackP2 - Title --> Filename, Genre - Year - Album --> Folder

The filename is renamed to tt - Title where tt is the track number. The containing folder is renamed to Genre - Year - Album

Sample: TrackP2 - Title (truncated to 100 characters)

The filename is renamed to tt - Title where tt is the track number. The resultant name is truncated if greater than 100 characters and is then followed by three dots. In many cases it may be easier to control the length of path components by selecting the Settings - Rename - Settings - Automatically truncate path components setting.

Sample: TrackP2 Title --> Filename

The filename is renamed to tt Title where tt is the track number.

Sample: TrackP2 - Title --> Filename

The filename is renamed to tt - Title where tt is the track number.

Sample: TrackP2 - Title --> Filename, Artist - Album - Year --> Folder

The filename is renamed to tt - Title where tt is the track number. The containing folder is renamed to Artist - Album - Year

Sample: TrackP2 Title --> Filename, Artist - Album - Year --> Folder

The filename is renamed to tt Title where tt is the track number. The containing folder is renamed to Artist - Album - Year.

Sample: TrackP2.Artist - Title - Year (Validated) --> Filename

The rename template uses various IfExists tokens to construct the filename. If Title is empty, nothing changes. If Title is not empty the filename is renamed to tt.Artist - Title - Year. The track number, artist and year are omitted if empty.

Sample: Undo File and Folder changes --> Filename & Folder

The filename and containing folder are renamed to whatever they were when the file was loaded.

Sample: Undo File Changes --> Filename

The filename is renamed to whatever it was when the file was loaded. Note that this can be done on any rename menu by the Rename to Initial Filename menu item.

Sample: Variable1 --> Filename

This template is intended to be used from an action. The filename is renamed to the contents of Variable 1.

Sample: Variable1 --> Folder

This template is intended to be used from an action. The containing folder is renamed to the contents of Variable 1.

Sample: Variable 1 - Open Filename --> Filename

This template is intended to be used from an action. The filename is renamed to the contents of Variable 1 followed by the filename when the file was first loaded.

Sample: Year - Album --> Folder

The containing folder is renamed to Year - Album
