Set / Remove Finder Icons on Audio Files

Ever wanted your FLAC files to display icons in the Finder? With these actions you can make it happen. Macs allow icons to be placed on files as well as folders. Note that there is an overhead to the process as the icons are stored as an attribute/fork on a file.

The Set Finder Icons on Audio Files action will set the default artwork item of each selected audio file as the file's icon. The first time you run the action the configuration action will automatically be called to ask which file types you want to manipulate. There is no need to set the icon on an MP3 or M4A file. Note that OS support to automatically extract the icon for other file types depends on the version of macOS that you're running.

The Remove Finder icons on Audio Files action will remove icons that were set on the selected files. Note that this action uses the same configuration as you set in the Set Finder Icons on Audio Files action.

You can change the file types that you're interested in at any time by running the Set / Remove Finder Icons Configuration action. If at least one audio file was selected when the action is called, you can set or remove icons as well as configure.

Note that changing the artwork in a file which has an explicit icon set, will not automatically change the displayed icon. You have to assign the new artwork by running the Set Finder Icons for Audio Files action after changing the artwork.
