MusicBrainz

MusicBrainz is an open music encyclopedia that collects music metadata and makes it available to the public. MusicBrainz is an excellent resource to find missing tag information for your music.

Yate allows you to search the MusicBrainz database for desired releases via a wizard. The wizard is launched via the Actions>MusicBrainz wizard... menu or context menu items. Use the wizard to:

If you have previously located an album via MusicBrainz and imported the MusicBrainz release id, you can skip the search and release list steps. Simply start the wizard from the context menu with at least one of the album's tracks selected. When started in this manner, retained import settings will be used. If you want to ignore the retained settings and use the last used values, hold down the Shift key when starting the wizard.

The db column in the main window will display if a file has a stored reference to a MusicBrainz release.
