This file mapping window allows you to map the files currently selected in the main window with the tracks identified via the Discogs data.
If you have less files than the number of tracks, the tracks not mapped are identified as . . . not mapped . . .
If you have more files selected than there are tracks, only those files which are mapped will be modified.
You can rearrange the filename to track mapping by dragging one or more table items. You will note that only the filenames move.
At any time, if you change the filename selection in the main window, the new list will be immediately applied to the mapping table.
If you did not preselect all required files you can use the context menu which has items to: Add all Files in Same Folder, Add all Files in Same Album, Add all Files in Same Folder and Album, Add all Files in Same Folder or Album. With each of these menu items, all files not selected which meet the specified criteria will be added to the selection. This operation can be done automatically by setting the Auto add files option in Settings - Discogs. The setting attempts Add all Files in Same Album and if there are still an insufficient number of files it then attempts Add all Files in Same Folder.
If you have specified a track database in Settings-Discogs, you can automatically search your library for tracks which are missing in an album. Right click on a track identified as . . . not mapped . . . and select Look for Missing File. For more information on searching for missing tracks read the Locating Missing Tracks in an Album topic.
The order in which files get mapped depends on various parameters. There are times when the automatic mapping will be incorrect. As already mentioned you can drag and drop files to correct the mappings. Of special note is the case where the files contain almost no metadata. If the filenames contain metadata such as track or title, you can use a File to Tag template to extract the information before calling the wizard. When the Discogs Release Id and Discogs Release Ordinal Position data is available, they will control the file mapping. When the data is not available matches occur based on the following information:
The default mapping uses all of the above information as found within a track's metadata. If the Disc or Track metadata is unavailable, the associated component is ignored.
You have full control over how files get mapped. In order to modify the mapping settings, use the Show Criteria button to display the mapping settings.
You can specify the source of the metadata used for mapping in one of three ways:
track number title
track number - title
track number . title
You can also choose to use a tracks's duration to assist in the mapping.
The Title Truncation pattern can be used to remove the tail of a Title field. If you are placing featuring information on Title fields, the artist information can hinder matching against titles in the online metadata. For example if you use Feat. as the start of your featuring specifications, you would specify Feat. in the Title Truncation field.
When the Settings - Discogs - Show filename to title Score column in the file mapping table option is enabled, the displayed column will describe a percentage score based on a fuzzy comparison between the Discogs title and:
Three colours are displayed with the score as follows: 0%-49% red, 50-99% yellow and 100% green. The fuzzy comparison ignores alphabetic case, accents and will discard all words in the Weight Exception set. Removing the words in the Weight Exception set improves the accuracy. eg. If the word the is in your weight exception list, matching The Best of nnn against Best of nnn will result in a 100% match.
When you have everything arranged as you want, click on the Import button. The imported data will be applied to the selected tracks and the wizard will close.
Alternately, you can click on the Back to Release button or close the window to cancel the wizard.
