General Settings

You may elect to have images proportionally scaled down if they are greater than a certain size. This only affects artwork which is being added, not artwork which already exists. 0 implies do not scale. An added image will only be scaled if its width or height is greater than the specified value. Note that Yate will not scale images to less than 32x32. The only if approximately square option will cause images to only be scaled if they are square or almost square. This allows you to later crop non square images without losing resolution. Almost square is defined as the absolute difference in the width and height being less than 1% of the larger of the two.

You have a choice of how to store images dragged or pasted into the application. If the source of the image can be identified as being JPEG or PNG, the image type will be preserved. Typically the image type can be identified when the source of the image is a file. When the source data cannot be determined, you can choose to save the image as JPEG or PNG. Note that when raw images are dragged or pasted, the source cannot be identified as JPEG or PNG. The only effect this can have is if the added image has transparency. If your preferred format if JPEG, the transparency will be filled.

You can drag almost anything to the artwork image panel. If a dragged file is not an image file, Yate will attempt to scrape an image from the file. With PDF files you can elect to scrape the first image or to render the file's first page in a supplied PPI resolution. Note that automatically applied scaling (if any), is applied after the image is rendered.

When images are imported into Yate you can have the new item's Picture Type field set to Cover (front) or to Other.

When images contained in files are added, you can attempt to extract the correct Picture Type by matching words in the file name. This functionality is enabled by selecting the Extract image type from file names option. The Configure button will display a panel where you can configure your rules. When this option is selected and a Picture Type cannot be extracted from the file name, the Dragged image type will be used.

Save metadata on imported artwork will cause the artwork's description field to be set to the source URL of the image. If there is associated commercial information available for the artwork item it will be saved in a Commercial Information Webpage.

When saving artwork to icons, you can have the corners rounded. The rounding is enabled by the Round corners when saving to icons setting. Note that this setting affects the UI and action based saving to folder icon functionality. It also affects the creation of custom toolbar icons for actions.

Searching Settings

You can configure settings specific to Fanart.tv, the Cover Art Archive and Discogs when searching from the menu. As a convenience, access to these settings can be available on the menu.

In order to retrieve artwork from fanart.tv you must have a personal API key. The key can be acquired by registering at fanart.tv. You must then request a personal API key. Once you have the API key, paste it into the fanart.tv API Key field. Note that fanart.tv artwork can be retrieved in the UI from the Artwork>Search for Artwork menu. When accessed in this manner at most one album cover is retrieved. When accessed via the Get Artwork from fanart.tv action statement, you have additional download options.

You can change some of the parameters used by the Auto Search for Artwork functionality via the Configure Auto Search Options button.

Artwork Viewer Settings

Update on file list selection changes will cause the contents of the Artwork Viewer, when open, to update whenever the file list selection changes. The artwork displayed will be the default artwork item if it is the default for every selected file. If there is no common default image, the Artwork Viewer will be emptied.

Update on album and track database selection changes will cause the contents of the Artwork Viewer, when open, to update whenever a database's selection changes.

The Zoom loaded Images to full size option will cause all images loaded in the Artwork Viewer to be displayed at 100%.
