Settings - Lists

Yate has a number of lists which can be associated with various fields. These lists are referred to as application lists in order to differentiate them from lists created by various actions statements. These lists are available from drop down menus to the right of each appropriate field. These lists include artist names, composer names, genres, etc. Ten lists are available initially named Custom 1 List through Custom 10 List. These lists are primarily intended to be used with Custom Fields but they can be associated with any field. The list names can be renamed by means of the Rename Lists button.

The application lists are case, diacritic and leading article (found in the Natural Sort Exception Set configured in Settings - Exceptions) preserving. If an item is added which already exists with a different representation, the original is preserved.

You can map fields to lists. Typically this is a logical association. Why would the Genre field be associated with any list except the Genre list? However, while separate lists can be maintained for composers and lyricists you may wish to maintain only a single list and could map the Composer, Lyricist and Original Lyricist fields to the Composer list. Every available field can be mapped to any of the available lists, or to None. Note that the Comments field can be associated with a list. However, the association is only meaningful when the Comments field is displayed on a custom edit panel as a Comments (list).

Manually entering values can be tedious. You can elect to autocomplete as you type when editing a field. This is accomplished via the Autocompletes option. If a field is mapped to None, the Autocompletes option is ignored.

You can also tell Yate to automatically add new items to the lists. This is done via the Auto-Saves option. If a field is mapped to None, the Auto-Saves option is ignored. You can also toggle this state from an appropriate control's function button menu.

When an item is selected from the dropdown control to the right of a field, it can overwrite the contents of the field or be appended as a new item. The Always Append option overrides the default behaviour and always appends new items. If a field is mapped to None, the Always Append option is ignored.

You can also use the Fill Application Lists action function to fill values from loaded tracks. This function can be used in Batch Processing mode to accumulate all of your maintained lists. You can also toggle this state from an appropriate control's function button menu.

The control at the top of the panel, lets you select List Mappings where you view and modify the list settings. You can also choose any list name to view and modify the contents of the list.

The following only applies when viewing a list.

To add an item, click on the + button.

To remove one or more items, select the appropriate items and click on the - button.

To modify the name of an item, click on the button, or double click on the item.

To export specific items in a list to a Yate importable file, select the items you want to export and click on the button.

You can copy or move selected items to a different list. Click on the ⤵︎ button, select Copy to or Move to and then select the desitination list.

When processing simple fields which are associated with application lists, Yate can interpret alternate delimiters. When saving values it can also use alternate delimiters when reconstructing the simple fields. These alternate delimiters and list interpretations are configured via the Advanced List Settings button. These settings are common to the Combined Credits Editor (CCE) and other functionality which interfaces to application lists.
