Is there an action that removes the Japanese characters from Title, Artist and Album Artist? For many Japanese releases the Discogs database includes both the English and Japanese metadata. Usually in the format "English = Japanese". I'd like a way to truncate each field after the English portion. This is less important for Artist and Album Artist as those can generally be done as a group per album. However having to manually delete each track Title is a drag. Figured this is something others would be interested in, but I couldn't find a solution. Thanks.

Well there is nothing that will do only Japanese but you can certainly easily remove all non Latin-1 characters. I would fold some Unicode characters first so that variations of dashes, etc. are not removed.

The action is called: Remove non Latin-1 Characters from Fields

It can be run three ways: When run from the multi field editor, you specify the fields to be modified. When run from a function button, only the associated field is modified. When directly run, Album Artist, Artist and Title are modified.

I've just reread your post and I think this may not have exactly the desired effect. It will not remove the '=' character. It might be a better approach to look for ' = ' and remove it any everything after from the fields. I'm taking your post literally and assuming the the sequence is space = space. If it's not, let me know. I've also included an action named: Truncate Field after Space Equal Space. This second action has the same run modes.

Both actions are contained in the zip file at https://2manyrobots.com/actions/Various-Truncate.zip

Thank you. I'll have a look. Yes, it is almost always 'space'='space. Your support is second to none. Thanks again.

Great. Thanks for letting me know. The fields contained in the action are the defaults to be used when the action is manually run.

If you run the action from the Multi Field Editor's Action panel, it will work on the specified fields. If you run it from the context menu of a function button to the left of a field (Multi Field Editor Actions submenu), only that field will be modified.

Roger that. Makes sense. For sporadic use I think the manual Action approach is most likely. Options are always helpful though. Appreciate the support.
