I am importing my library into Yate and get the following pop up for several files in my library:

Yate has already crashed once before the import completes.

Hi there. Sorry you're having this problem. If you can send me a link to one of the files that is reporting the above problem I'll look at it right away.

I've looked into this issue and the only time this message is issued is if the FLAC file does not start with a valid FLAC marker. It is possible that your file has not been modified in a long time and contains a leading ID3 (mp3 style) tag. This is not a generally supported feature and hasn't been used in a while as FLAC has an alternate accepted tag format. That being said I have implemented some code to process the antiquated data and strip it out when rewriting the file. This should get rid of the above error message. As I'm just guessing that this is the problem it would be great if you could get me the above file so that I can verify my idea. A dropbox link or any other link to the file would work.

While the Load Error issue is annoying I'm pretty sure it is an easy fix.

You mentioned that Yate crashed and that always concerns me. If you can pass on a crash report or give me more information as to what you were doing it would be great. You state 'before the import completes'. If you are loading files you may have to narrow down the load so that we can figure out what file is crashing when loaded if indeed that is the issue. The crash report would help.

Hello,
I've recently had the same error message. The files I'm attempting to fix after using health check. All are files recently recovered from a failed external drive and none are playable. The only visible correct info is the file name and size.

Was the code written to strip the tag successful in correcting the problem? Mind passing it on if it was?

Thanks J

The previous post on this thread was in 2013. The code was very different then. There is far more recover built into Yate at this point.

There is an AFHC patch coming soon with an associated minor Yate update to reflect the changes. There are minor changes to the FLAC recovery process. I can see if any of these changes help with your files. Send a DropBox, GoogleDrive, or any other link to one or two files to support@2manyrobots.com. I'll see if anything can be done.

I'm really sorry to hear about the drive failure.
