Normal topicFile Name to Title

Hi there,

I'm relatively new to Yate, so Pardon me if that topic has been answered already somewhere: I didn't find it

I have a bunch (300) of cassettes, collected during travels in the "Emerging Countries" as they call it, that I carefully ripped myself in Flac.

Now the filenames contains all the informations that I need to tag them properly, and the easiest way for me would be to copy "filename" into "title" then edit the titles via the editor.

Is there an easy way to do that in a batch?

Thanks for your sound advice

Dominique

Yes, there are a variety of ways to do it. If the filenames contain the metadata in some deterministic form, Yate can extract all of the metadata and not simply move the entire filename into Title. If you'd like help with this, send us the format of the filenames and don't do the following.

Detailed instructions on how to copy a filename into the Title field via the Batch Processor:

1) Create a new action via Actions>New Action
2) Add a Set Statement
3) Choose Title as the destination of the Set statement
4) In the "Set to" field do a right click and from the context menu do an Insert Yate File Property>File Name (without extension)
5) The Set statement's description should now be:
Set the Title field to "\!File Name (without extension)!"
6) Save the action via File>Save. You only have to set the name.
7) Start the batch processor via Actions>Batch Processor Wizard...
8) From the drop down, choose the action you just created
9) hit Next
10) drag over the folder in/under which the files to be modified exist
11) hit Next
12) Make sure Auto Save Files is checked
13) Hit Start

That's it. The Batch Processor will do the rest.

Note that the process is not selective. All audio files in/under the folder you supply will be modified.

Un-believable.

It took 1 minute to set it up, 1 second to process my 300 files folder.

Not only did it work gracefully but it preserves all my other tags: I was afraid this would nullify my "album" and "grouping" tags and it didn't.

A million Thanks for saving me hours of stupid repetitive manual tagging.
