Normal topic[Solved] Rename Template: Add more fields

Just wanted to make a rename pattern which includes the catalog number (custom tag: »CATALOGNUMBER«) in the folder name like this:
Publisher/[CAT001]--Album_Artist--Album_Name/01_Artist--Title.mp3
Would be great if there was a possibility to access the custom catalog numer and the publisher field.

I think the rename feature is really useful and other people probably want to use other fields here. Maybe you can add a list with checkboxes in the preference where users can check what they want to see in the list and what not, and where they can enter names of custom tags as well, for me this would just be »Publisher« and »Custom: CATALOGNUMBER«

Adding fields is relatively easy. I'll add Publisher and whatever standard Yate field you or any other user would like to request. For now this is easier than making it customizable.

I'm assuming that the Catalog number is either extracted from MusicBrainz or Discogs. As such, it will be stored in a User Defined Text Item. What I'll do is allow the creation of three custom fields (global settings in Preferences). These fields are mappings to User Defined Text fields which will be accessible from Rename templates, File toTag templates, and the Move and Create Symbolic Links action functions. Using these you can include up to three custom fields which map to User Defined Text items.

I'll also allow all of the previous mentioned functions at access the 'User Defined Work Field'. If you wish you can synthesize a 'non standard' custom field at runtime via actions. The 'User Defined Work Field' is not retained in the files so it works well as a variable.

Let me know if there are any other standard Yate fields that you like to see added.

I've changed my proposed implementation. The 'User Defined Work Field' has been renamed Variable1. I've also added Variable2 through Variable5 fields. Tokens for these fields have been added to the Rename and File to Tag templates. The Move and Create Symbolic Links actions automatically have access to these fields. Via scripting you can set these fields to whatever you wish and synthesize the rename template and/or destination paths as desired. I've tried it and it works 🙂

I've also added Publisher.

It seems like Yate recognizes 4+ sets of fields depending on which function is asking for the information. Would it be possible to make a more comprehensive set of fields that is universally available across the software?

Eg... Would be nice to have access to iTunes PID, OriginalTime, and Original Artist in the Rename function.

All true. I'll add your requested fields for now and see about making them all available.
