Topic says it all, my mp3 files reside on a NAS with ext4 and are shared with SMB3. Before I was using AFP with problems, but now that Apple has deprecated AFP in favor of SMB, I thought it time to move to SMB.

Besides some issues with file and folder names being renamed (illegal characters?), it works, but one big problem is that Quick Look can be used, but it doesn't show any metadata on an mp3 file.

Anyone know what causes this? I googled around, but didn't find anything.

I'm in the process of moving my library to s NAS decide and I'm curious to the answer, too.

I know that some programs (and I could be easily be wrong) don't want the data to reside on a different disk than their host program, like LightRoom - but that may only be the library and not the data.).
