Hi,

when entering the media source of a release (CD, Digital, Vinyl, …) I always end up typing in the same characters, again and again. This takes time and is also a big source for mistakes. Would be great if we had the possibility to define a list for this, similar to the Genre-list, which can be pre-set in settings. If you implement this, it might also be helpful to make it possible to use with every field. So there could be a settings-item «Lists», which contains the following entries:

- Artists
- Genres
- Media Source
- +

In another place it would then be helpful to define where these lists are being used:

Artists —> Artist, Album Artist, Remix Artist
Genres —> Mood, Genre
Media Source —> Media Source

Also it would be great if there was a switch to automatically add new entries to the list if not available. This would make sense with e.g. the artists-lists, not so much with the media sources list. But this is not really important.

I've also been asked to add a "Label" list. I'll revisit the list handling in 3.15.

The lists are not terribly difficult to implement but they do require a lot of work.

- each list type needs a preference section.
- the auto-accumulation of the data has to be optional.
- controls have to be changed to support the "popup" list
- Autocomplete on the control has to be optional.
- they have to be hooked into the "Fill Lists" statement.
- they have to be hooked into the "Standardize Case of List Items" statement
- they have to be hooked into the "Extract Preference Set" statement

Further, Media Type has preset values for m4a/ iTunes users where the 'stick' atom can optionally be mapped to Media Type.

Revisiting this is already on my list.

This has been implemented in the upcoming v3.15.

There are new lists for Conductor, File Type, Label, Lyricist, Media Type, Mood, Publisher and Remixer. Support for these lists and the older Genre, Artist, Composer and Grouping lists has been moved to a single Preference section....... called Lists.

The following UI fields/controls can be mapped to any of the lists:

Album Artist, Artist, Composer, Conductor, File Type, Genre Grouping, Label, Lyricist, Original Artist, Original Lyricist, Media Type, Mood, Publisher, Remixer

So for example if you want to use the Composer list for the Composer, Lyricist and Original Lyricist UI controls, you can do so.

Any mapped UI control can optionally set Auto-Add and Autocomplete. These settings are also available on the function buttons for the appropriate controls.

The Fill Lists, Standardize Case and Extract Preference Set statements have been updated to accommodate the new sets.
