Normal topicExtra padding on Drop Down field

Hi, I have a strange issue. Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere (I couldn't find any answers after looking for some time).

I recently purchased an iMAC and on that, I saw that there's an extra bit of padding appearing for Drop Down Items and this is causing some confusion as to if there's an extra space at the beginning of the text. Please see the attached screenshot (arrows where this padding can be seen) for details. Every time, we need to go and make sure there's no space at the beginning as for the naked eye, it seems that there's a gap there. This is ok for text fields where the text begins without any space or padding.

Can anything be done about this? Is there a setting I am missing?

It's not the iMac. It's the OS and possibly the retina display. A few versions of the OS back, Apple went to a more rounded control for combined text/menu controls. When they did this, they added extra annoying space before the left edge of the text. Look at the shape of your Title field compared to Artist.

When they first did it there were a lot of complaints .... justifiable.

Sorry, personally I think it's pretty bad. There is no setting to get rid of it.

Started in Ventura with the iPad-ification of the Mac. The reason I mentioned the display is that it seems to change the amount of extra spacing. All in all blame the OS.
