Normal topicQuestion concerning lyrics export and metadata copying

Hello

First of all I want to thank you for the software, it's worth every cent spent. It saved me so much time when I was grooming my music collection. But here's two things I don't do well with it:
1. Since both Plex and PlexAmp cannot read the lyrics embedded, is there an option to export embedded lyrics to a text file with the same name as the music file? Lyrics Finder does this but it would be more convenient to do it directly in Yate.
2. The metadata copy function saves a lot of time, but I have to choose fields manually every time. Is it possible to create several actions with different sets of metadata?

Many thanks in advance,

I've uploaded a set of actions to maintain writing the lyrics to .txt files. Go to the web resources page and at the top of the Sample Actions section there will be an item named Write Lyrics to Files.

As far as the multiple copy actions ... the simplest method would be for you to create new actions in the Action Manager. If all you want to do is copy a single field to one or more fields, only one statement is required ... Copy. If you want to do more than one copy in the action simply add additional statements.

Yoy can also mark the action such that it works in the Multi Field Editors Action panel. I've attached a screenshot of a sample action which copies Genre to Mood and one of the settings for the Action Manager to enable the action in the MFE.

Let me know if this is okay.

Great! Export works perfectly well. Thanks a lot.

Regarding the second question, I probably wasn't entirely accurate. Copying data within a single file is something I use often, that's not a problem. I meant copying metadata between files. Eg I want to transfer basic metadata (album title, track titles, first release date, composers etc) from old version to new reissue, but not affect the rest of data. Other times I want to transfer credits in addition, sometimes lyrics only. Each time I have to manually select fields in "Copy metadata>Copy/Configure Selected metadata". It would be nice to have several actions, each with its own set of fields.

Thanks again
Cheers

Oops .. my bad.

I would have given you a sample action which prompts for the fields but it turns out that the Copy Metadata statement does not have a runtime override of the fields to be copied. I'll add this in the upcoming v7.1.

For now I've uploaded a sample action for you at: https://2manyrobots.com/actions/Copy-Metadata---Sample.zip

The action is named Copy Metadata - Sample.

You'll have to edit the fields to be copied, on line 24 of the action. (2nd to last statement). As provided it only copies Title. Select whatever fields you want to copy, (or invert the meaning by clicking on the blue dot and select the fields you do not want to copy).

To create alternates, simply duplicate the action in the Action Manager and then edit the statement again in the new action.

The action runs exactly the same as the UI. You have to have an even number of files loaded (no selection is necessary). A menu will popup allowing you to choose Top to Bottom or Bottom to Top. Clicking outside the menu will cancel.

Once v7.1 is released, if you want this patched up to prompt you for the fields ... reach out.

Perfect, thanks a lot!
Everything works smoothly. That's exactly what I've been missing.
