Ever since updating to Yate v8.3.1, I get the following error when attempting to drag music files from the Music app to the Yate icon in the dock:

The file can't be found.

There is no issue with the files.

I am able to drag them directly into the Yate window.

This is also an intermittent issue. Sometimes I can get it to work when I restart Music, Yate, and Finder, but not in any recognisable pattern. It just eventually seems to work.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm on macOS Sequoia Version 15.6.

Nevermind. I updated to Tahoe and it seems to resolved itself.

The Finder was throwing the error before passing anything to Yate ... I have no idea why. However, even when this works, it doesn't really. When the Finder passes the files to Yate via the Dock/Open With mechanism it doesn't pass the relevant Music app information.

When dragging from Music to the dock icon, the files open but nothing gets linked. When dragging from the Music app to Yate's main window, whatever is dragged gets linked.

This is actually the exact behaviour I wanted and it's why I was doing it that way. I'm doing some big updates. Having the files linked meant I could not use Yate while it was saving (it's a lot of files!).

So, I used Yate to update the files and ran an Apple Script to update them in Music.app. This way I could still continue work on the next batch of files in Yate. It works for me.

By the way, the original issue was caused by Music.app not recognising the external drive. It wasn't a Yate issue after all.

Thanks for the update. I'd blame the Finder as that's the app which was throwing the File Not Found error. 🙂
