Good Afternoon,

I noticed that when I create an Apple App Playlist action, I have to specify a default playlist name ahead of time (which isn’t ideal).

However, if I simply right-click, I have the option to create or specify a playlist name on the fly.

Is there a way to make the action button behave the same way? Ideally, I’d like it to prompt me for a playlist name (or let me create one) each time I run the action instead of requiring a fixed default playlist.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yate maintains a staging playlist to make it easier to add tracks to a common playlist. The supplied toolbar icon uses this method. The UI (menus) and action statements provide additional granularity. It's impossible to provide canned icons for all Yate functionality. However, I can supply an action which you can assign to one of the 10 Action toolbar icons.

The action will prompt for a playlist name and provide a menu of all existing playlists. If the specified playlist does not exist, it will be created. If it already exists, the selected tracks will be added to the playlist.

To associate it with a toolbar icon do the following:

- go to the Action Manager
- select the icon and do a right click
- select Set as Toolbar Action and choose one of the available (unused) action buttons
- you can add your own icon or use the default. You can change this at any time by selecting Edit Toolbar Action Attributes from the context menu.
- customize the main window toolbar and add the icon for Action # where # is the number that you associated the action with.
