Hi everyone, I'm worried that this might be a really noob question 🙂

I can't seem to find a way to create a rename template that will let me prefix the file name with the comments tag?

I use MIK to find the key and bpm of a track and write to the comments field, I'd like to prefix the filename with this tag...

Hi,

The rename template does not currently support the insertion of the Comment field. The field may contain line feeds and may also be any length, etc.

However..... you can get around this limitation as follows:

First, create a rename template which specifies a Variable where you would like the Comment to appear.

Create an action which contains the following statements. Note that this example assumes Variable1 was used in the Rename template.

Copy the Comment field to Variable1
Get First Line Variable1
Truncate Variable1 at the end to '100' characters replace with '...'
Rename Files (your template name)

If you are sure that your comments are a decent length and do not contain newline characters you can eliminate the middle two statements.

Select your files then run the action and you should have your desired results 🙂
