Question about File to Tag

I have a large number of MP3 files containing ripped CDs in a file structure which looks like the following:

CD0030 Handel Messiah 1 Solti/02 No.2 Recitative Comfort Ye My People - No.3 Air Every Valle.mp3

I can use File to Tag to extract the title but when I try using Folder Start to get at the album name it is simply not extracted:

Title - Folder Start - Album

I have tried various combinations but still only the title is extracted. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Is it possible that when you were trying different combinations you did a Preview before doing a Modify?

The template looks correct to me. (As long as you did not enter any spaces between the tokens).

I duplicated your file structure and my log contains the following:

---
/Users/Barry/temp/CD0030 Handel Messiah 1 Solti/03 No.3 Recitative Comfort Ye My People - No.3 Air Every Valle.mp3
title: 03 No.3 Recitative Comfort Ye My People - No.3 Air Every Valle
album: CD0030 Handel Messiah 1 Solti

As your log doesn't have the 'album' entry, I can only surmise that the template changes were not saved before the preview.

In the preferences please click off the JB7 entry and then click on again. Verify that the Template is as pictured above. If it is not, recreate it while JB7 is selected and then hit Modify. You should be okay then.

If this is the problem I'll have to be a little more careful on enablng the preview with unsaved changes.
