Normal topicdiscogs auth

Hi-

I added hate to a new second computer and I can't get the Discogs auth to work. I tried to export pref from 1st machine and import to the new one - but I may have already goofed it up before importing pref. Tried resetting prefs too but no dice. how can I get second machine auth discos?

thanks

It is tricky because Discogs only allows one authenticated token to work at a time.

Follow these steps and you should be okay.

1) check if either of your Macs has a valid token. Do this by selecting 'Validate Discogs Access Token' from the Yate menu
2) if one of your Macs has a valid token jump to step 5
3) As none of your Macs has a valid token, force the issue on one by selecting Yate>Force Discogs Authorization. Follow the steps
4) Once step 3 is done, you have one machine properly set up.

5) On the Mac which has a valid working Discogs setup, do a Yate>Export Preferences. 'Discogs Access Token' must be checked. Everything else is irrelevant for this purpose.
6) As a sanity check drag the produced plist file to Yate's main window's file list area while holding down the SHIFT key. You should see: Discogs Access Token: Yes in the displayed log file.
7) Copy the exported plist file to the other Mac.
8) On the 'other' Mac do a Yate>Import Preferences and import the plist file you just produced.
9) After the import do a 'Validate Discogs Access Token' from the Yate menu. It should say everything is okay.

BTW: it is possible to sync preferences between your Macs so that all of your preferences, including actions, are available in both. For more information see Syncing Preferences Between Multiple Copies of Yate on the main help page. I sync my preferences between all my Macs.

Normal topicdiscogs auth

Hi! me again... I'm on yet another computer and Yate won't import Dicogs data. I'm guessing it has somethin gto do with the token? Is the 'Validate Discogs Access Token' not in Yate menu anymore? I can't find it...

How do I get discogs to import?? thanks

The auth changed many years ago. It's all self contained now. If nothing is being imported you have to make sure that you have something checked on the metadata panel. Remember that the checkboxes are tri-states. Off is do not import. Mixed (-) is only import if the field is empty and checked is always import.
