The subject line pretty much says it all. I mainly use Swinsian for my FLAC player, and it seems to never properly pick up the total number of discs in a multi-disc set.

If it's possible to add two (2) values to the Disc Count field, are they just simply separated with a comma? I am hoping by adding all possible values to this field, Swinsian will pick up and map properly.

You can configure Yate to read more than one Flac mapping per item but it will only write one.

I've downloaded Swinsian and found that their handling of the total number of discs is somewhat weird. They're writing the DISCNUMBER tag as if it was an ID3 based tag. Disc totals are included in the DISCNUMBER comment. So disc 3 of 5 would be written as:

DISCNUMBER=3/5

I've never seen this before but I have verified that if the field is set as described, Swinsian will read the correct disc number and disc total. I have not been able to figure out how to tell Swinsian to update its metadata if externally changed. Making changes must be a pain. They write the files, but only read once....unless I'm missing something.

If you want me to handle the DISCNUMBER field as they require it, I will have to add an option.....which I'm willing to do. The option would cause whatever field you have Disc mapped to, to be the source and destination for both Disc and Disc Number. The Disc Count mapping would be ignored.

I've never seen another player read/write the disc information this way.

Thank you for the quick reply. That definitely sheds some light on the weirdness in Swinsian. Since I also use Audirvana (which reads all info just fine), I'll just leave things as they are, and just manually input the total disc count into Swinsian after imports are done.

I just received the following reply from the developer of Swinsian, so hopefully this will resolve the issue for me (and potential others) of having to go in and manually add the correct Disc Total information in Swinsian after import.

It looks like that is a bug (it’s looking at DISCNUMBER instead of DISCTOTAL). Thanks for letting me know. I’ll try and get out a beta version that fixes that in the next day or two.
