Normal topicFile to tag

Hi !
I'm a new user, and I'm trying to convert file to Track-Composer-Title. (not Artist...)
(In fact, File to Track-Composer-Title with the title containing the composer and the title would be perfect :
field 1 -> track,
filed 2 -> Composer,
filed 2 - filed 3 -> Title)

Is it customisable ?

Thx,

Dan

Is your delimiter a dash?

ie. 01-composer-title

If not please post one or two sample filenames.

If you'd like field 2 to go to more than one field you'll need an action. We can put it together for you.

For the above:

set track to: 01
set composer to: composer
set title to: composer - title?????

Please confirm and we'll get you something

Yes, you have well unterstood :
set track to: 01
set composer to: composer
set title to: composer - title

In fact, for classical music, composer is important, but many players, like Sonos, doesn't display the composer...

Download

http://2manyrobots.com/actions/ExtractTrack-Composer-(Composer)Title.zip

Unzip the file and import the .plist file by Yate>Import Preferences. You will then have an action named Extract Track-Composer-(Composer)Title.

- Open tracks which have the specified filename format.
- Select the files and run the action.

The action validates the filename format and will not import anything if it is not as expected or if the resultant track number is 0.

You can assign the action to a toolbar button, assign a keyboard shortcut or use the Actions menu to run it. As is our convention, the supplied action will not save the files. You will have to do the Save manually. If you wish, a Save statement can be added to the action to do it automatically. If you want to avoid having to select the files, you can set the All Files column in the action manager.

Try it out. 🙂

BTW I am also a Sonos user and about three months ago I hit their maximum track limit...which is a real pain 🙁

Thank you for your quick answer !
I wish I understood myself the plist, so I could change settings for other changes, but it's great!
