Normal topicMoving feat., (feat. ...) and Feat from Title to Artist

Hello,

if been trying to retag & rename my files with your program lately and its pretty nice!

Is there an action where i can move the feat. from the Title Field to the Artist field, for example

From:
Wiz Khalifa - Black & Yellow feat. Snoop Dogg / Wiz Khalifa - Black & Yellow (feat. Snoop Dogg)

To
Wiz Khalifa feat. Snoop Dogg - Black & Yellow

Looking forward hearin a nice solution 🙂

Oddly enough, there is a relatively old sample action called Featuring Manipulation which accumulates 'featuring' information on the Artist and Title fields and produces a unique list on the Title field. I've uploaded a version which does the reverse and places the result on the Artist field. The documentation might not be 100% as I may have missed a few Artist/Title flips.

The action is configurable as to what the inserted text looks like and how it gets bracketed (if at all). The first comment in the action (after the Force Grouped statement) documents what can be configured. I've changed the default to be what (I think) you requested.

The action is called....Featuring Manipulation Reverse. Not the best of titles, but you can rename it. The action is a little old and can more than likely be improved with some of the newer action additions, but it seems to work fine for me. Give it a try.

Hah, just a few days ago I needed this. So I changed Title/Artist in the original action, and it worked fine. Except when a title included the word "with", which produced unwanted results. It was just once, so I didn't do anything about it, but maybe this Reverse action has that covered?

Thank you for the help!

The only thing which is not working for me is when you want to tag this:

Lady Gaga - BLABLA feat. Will Smith (Tiesto Remix)

it creates this:
Lady Gaga feat. Will Smith (Tiesto Remix) - Blabla

you understand whats the issue here? If i do the action the ''(Artist Remix)' also moves to the Artist field but I want it to be in the Title field 🙁

like this: Lady Gaga feat. Will Smith - Blabla (Tiesto Remix)

Thank you in advance and i really appreciate your help!

Yep...I removed it. I had the same issues with 'With'

I thought I updated the sample action version...but I guess I forgot. I'll update it shortly.

Okay....one reply for all.

First off the Sample Action 'Featuring Manipulation' has been updated so that neither the Title or Artist fields look for 'with'. This is a user configurable setting so it can easily be put back.

I've uploaded a new zip contains two actions:

Featuring Manipulation Reverse
Featuring Artist Priority with Remixer support

The first should be pretty much the same as before. If you call the 'remixer' variant, it will preserve remix text at the end of a Title field.
(name rmx)
or
(name remix)

It is not case sensitive.

'Featuring Artist Priority with Remixer support' saves the 'remix' text, removes it, calls 'Featuring Manipulation Reverse' and then appends it back. A quick and dirty but somewhat aesthetic solution. 🙂

The zip can be found at:
