We've started looking at providing better support for Roon.

The main issue seem to be the correct storage of credits so that Roon will process them. We're attempting to get sufficient information from Roon in order to make it easier (or possible) to apply credits.

Thanks to those Yate users who were positing on the Roon forum to assist in getting us the information we needed to do a proper implementation.

We now have sufficient information to proceed.

Roon provides several ways to define "Album Version". They describe album version as "information used to represent distinguishing information about the album like 'Remastered' or 'SACD'. One method they can use to set this is to "extract album version from the VERSION tag". I haven't been able to find the ability to set the VERSION tag in Yate. Am I missing something?

You can see a reference to a VERSION tag here: https://kb.roonlabs.com/File_Tag_Best_Practice

Finally an easy one 🙂 I'm working on the promised Roon Credits Manager and other assorted presets for Roon.

Create a UDTI on the UD Text panel called VERSION. I've verified that you can set whatever you want as the value and Roon will read it. However, I cannot guarantee what different values they expect.

If you don't want to work with UDTIs, you can always create a custom field named VERSION defined as in the attached screenshot

Thanks for the quick reply. I created a UDTI called VERSION and set it for one album. I'll be able to confirm this worked once Roon finishes scanning.

In terms of the approach involving custom fields, after mapping as shown above, where do I actually go to populate this for an album?

I just saw the "it worked" out while I was typing this 🙂

If you want to view Custom fields in the UI you have to create a Custom Panel with the Custom Panel Editor. There are samples on the resources page. There's one in the User Contributed area and one in the Audirvana download. There will be a Roon sample once the Roon work is done.

I have been really struggling with both the Bowie boxsets 'Five Years ' and ' Who Can I Be Now ' . I have tagged , re-tagged and edited in Roon and started over . Roon ignores the track-embedded artwork and uses the overall boxset artwork or for some bizarre reason the ' David Live' artwork for ALL discs the second set . If there is any more info or Roon-related developments they would be most welcome .

I love Roon for sound quality and , when it gets it right , added value content but it is torture for tagging in a big way !

Best
