Hi,

Is there a way to delete all metadata from a file? I wish to do this as part of an action. I want to delete absolutely everything so I am starting a complete fresh with no 'hidden' data as such. I am currently looking at possibilities to do this using Tag Stripper.app or the kid3-cli to remove tags v1 and v2 but thought I would ask here at the chance yate can do this already?

Thank you for your help, excellent program!

In the UI use the Multi Field Editor and the Clear function with everything selected. In an action use the Clear statement

Thank you, I do not know if there is a difference between clearing all fields and actually deleting the id3 v1 and v2 tags is there?. I have just about finishing scripting AppleScript to incorporate Tag Stripper into the process. Should I just use the clear function or stick with tag stripper? Will tag stripper do a more 'thorough' clean? I only want id3v2.4 tags after the process is finished. Am all ears, just open to your suggestions/expertise, thank you for your help

Unless told to do otherwise, Yate will always remove old ID3V1 tags and will always write an ID3V2.4 tag regardless as to what the tag version was when read. When you clear everything, Yate will still write the ID3V2.4 tag structure but it will be empty. ... again unless you've set that certain information should automatically be written. For example tagging time. You can assume that the written tag is empty. You can always verify this by doing a Log>Raw Data after writing a file. Essentially empty should essentially be the same as completely removed. 🙂
