After an update I seemed to have lost keeping extra spaces within an album name when I rename a folder. I sometimes put an extra space between things like GH Bob Marley. Now when I rename that collapses to GH Bob Marley and I can't seem to find in preferences what would preserve exactly how I named the album when renaming. Thanks

I seemed to have lost the spaces in my post as well! I was trying to describe where I name the album where there are two spaces between GH and Bob Marley and when renaming folder that goes to one. I've tested say with 5 spaces and it goes to 1 when the folder is renamed.

The forum/mailer stripping spaces and backslashes is a completely different issue.

As far as stripping and compressing spaces when renaming and moving ... it's been this way for quite a while now. (At least as far back as version 5.0).

It should be easy to add an option to disable the behaviour ... at least for sequences of multiple spaces. v6.6.1 will come out next week. I'll see if it can be added there.

No problem. It's done and will be in v6.6.1. There's a new General Preferences setting named Rename Space Handling.

  • No Changes
  • Remove Leading/Trailing Spaces
  • Remove Leading/Trailing Spaces and Compress

The default is Remove Leading/Trailing Spaces and Compress
