Can't save lyrics

So I bought an album from Bandcamp and downloaded it in FLAC format. I opened it in Yate to check and add tags - including lyrics. But, whatever I do, the lyrics won't save -- after clicking the Save button the Lyrics field empties itself and there are no lyrics.

I can save lyrics to other FLAC files so I know that's not an issue.

I've even tried converting the files to ALAC - but they still won't let me save anything to the Lyric field.

Can anyone suggest what might be going on please?

That's weird ... even stranger is that the lyrics still won't save after converting to ALAC. That rules out the FLAC tag mappings.

Are other changes sticking? Have you verified changing other tags works in the files? I'm assuming that you're pasting the lyrics into the field on the Lyrics editing panel.

Can you send a link to one of the FLAC files to support@2manyrobots.com.

It's very weird. As an extra test I downloaded the ALAC version straight from Bandcamp - opened it in Yate - and that version had all lyrics in the right place (Lyrics field) - BUT if I changed and then saved anything (not necessarily lyrics) then the lyrics disappear completely.

Other changes are sticking - and, yes, I'm pasting lyrics into the Lyrics field.

If it's useful I can send you a sample file.

Ah - I've just noticed the same happens with other files. e.g. an album I ripped some time ago to FLAC with embedded lyrics -- the same happens -- if I make a small change (e.g. delete a line) and save then all lyrics disappear.

I'm running the latest version of Yate on 2 Macs - one running OS 11.6 and the other 10.15.7. The same happens on both Macs.

Well it's not the file. I can modify the lyrics without any issue. BTW there are lyrics in the file you sent me but they're mapped to UNSYNCEDLYRICS which is an uncommon mapping for lyrics.

This is too strange. There is nothing special about the lyrics field ... and other changes are sticking.

Again, I would assume the FLAC mappings but even that should not be possible as you can write the lyrics.

On the Yate menu do an Export Preferences. Make sure that Export as zip file is checked and hit the All button to ensure that everything is selected. email the file to support@2manyrobots.com. Do not post a link to your preferences in the forum. You can remove the linked file at this time.

Thanks for the preferences. As I said it was strange 🙂

In Preferences - Actions you have an Auto-run on Save action set. It's set to OnSave. Action OnSave clears the lyrics field. Every time you save a file ... no more lyrics.

To be honest I didn't even think about that. I sat in the debugger and saw that the file was never being written when only lyrics had changed.
