I'm finding the lack of a consistent, easy "undo" function quite frustrating.

I just went through & did a whole bunch of editing on a 106 disc box set. The sort of global edits that clean the whole thing up ready for me to start on the details.

Then I tried to remove "CD" from the beginning of the album title but had the thing set to "artist".

Undo was not available so I had to use the "revert to editing state" command & now I have to start all over again.

Now, I get that was down to me, but why can't I just undo through each & every change the way I can in, say, Photoshop?

Or can I & I just don't yet know how?

No you are correct.

There is no way to keep track of undo on every possible field. There are not just manual editing changes, but changes made in the Multi Field Editor, via actions and via importing (File to Tag, Discogs, MusicBrainz, etc.).

You can:

roll back all changes in a file by File>Revert.

roll back to the last editing state for a file: Edit>Revert to Editing State

or do do any of the above on an individual field basis via the function button to the left of each field.

Or learn to save your work & then select the correct field before doing more edits like a complete bin lid. 🙂
