Every time you try to move the selection off an offending action statement an error will be displayed. There is no way to get rid of an error other than fixing it or deleting the offending statement.

What happens when you run the action? Are you getting an error message? Is the Import Date field not being set?

I just hooked up an external drive to a Mac and placed a folder of audio files on it. I then went to a different Mac and loaded the files from the external Mac and run the action. It worked for me.

What happens when you run the action? = the Import Date field not being set.

That's strange, nothing happens when I run the action are you using finder and file sharing in system pref.?

If you can load files into Yate from the remove external drive I would assume that everything is configured correctly.

Download the action at: https://2manyrobots.com/actions/TestFolderDateAccess.zip

Install the action ... it's named Test Folder Date Access. Run the action (you do not have to load any audio files). When prompted, select a folder on the remote external drive. Let me know what is output.

Looks like it's working but not, I just downloaded the action from this topic again no luck.

I drag the album folder from Finder to Yate.

I'm assuming that you select the files otherwise you'd receive an error message.

Here's a link to a debug version of the action:

https://2manyrobots.com/actions/ContainingFolderCreationDatetoImportDate-Debug.zip

The action is named: Containing Folder Creation Date to Import Date - Debug

You will get a prompt before each folder is processed and when the action completes.

Let me know if any errors are raised (not the processing messages) and if you get a file count displayed when done.

This makes no sense at all. Download the action at:

ContainingFolderCreationDatetoImportDate-Debug-2.zip

You'll have a new action named ....debug 2

Load the files in the main window. Select all the files. Start the ...debug 2 action.

You should receive a prompt describing the folder list. The list should not be empty!
Then a prompt stating processing ... (one of these for each folder)
Then the count message when done.

Succes, this must be the issue I have my music sorted by genre I only tried the first folder named "Club/Dance" because
I only have 4 albums under that genre the forward slash must be the problem because trying another album without / it works, so if there is a / somewhere in the path it don't work, anyway around this, so sorry for taking your time.

/s tend to mess things up. I'll have a look at the code and see what's going on.
