Very Hot topicBeatport Support?

Hello, I love your software - it's been really helpful! I sorted and tagged thousands of songs.
But now I'm looking for a way to automatically tag my new downloaded and/or purchased tracks from beatport.
Basically, all I need is:

RELEASE DATE to be moved into Composer leaving only 5 first characters;
LABELS - to Grouping;
CATALOG # - to Grouping ater the LABELS value (splitted by "/" or "|" character, so it will look like this:

and maybe

BPM - to bpm
with Artwork

Is it possible to achieve it by using YATE? If not, will you try to add this feature in future or what alternative can I use?

Thanks!

Here's example of the track that I'm unable to find using Discogs/Musicbrainz Wizard:

So it would be really helpful to have a feature that grabs tag info from beatport or another similar store.

Hi,

The setting of the Composer and Groupings fields can be done with a two line action as follows:

Copy the Release Time field to the Composer field
Set the Grouping field to "\[Label] | \[Catalog Number]"

This will not clear the Release Time, Label or Catalog Number fields. If you want that done, you can add a single Clear statement to clear all three.

I'm not sure what you want with the BPM field. Do you want to move it to the description field associated with an artwork item? If so, the ability to set the description field programmatically will only be available in the next release of Yate. It's already implemented 🙂

The importing of metadata from Discogs and MusicBrainz is done via their APIs. Importing metadata from beatport or any other store would involve screen scraping which constantly breaks. Also we would be deluded with implementing the ability from dozens of different music sites. So....there is nothing on the horizon to do s. 🙁

Thank you for such a quick reply!

The problem is – not all the releases that I have include this kind of information (Release Time, Label, Catalog Number), so I think the only option left for me is to put them by hand or copy from some other source. So it would be really nice to have a drop down menu at the Grouping Field (just like in iTunes), so if I'll be doing it by copy/paste it could save me some time.

But if it's not possible, it's ok - I'll figure something out 🙂

About the BPM field - I thought it could be filled automatically also, because this kind of information is present in beatport as well as the Key of the track, but I don't really need it, because I'm using Mixed in Key software.

I also thought that Yate could grab artwork from beatport, but it seems like it's doing a great job just searching it in Google. I've tested a dozen of tracks yesterday.

Anyway, thanks for the great program! And keep it up 😀

Hi, just a quick note regarding Beatport. They do have an api (https://oauth-api.beatport.com/#) so it is possible to access Beatports database and use it for tagging your own collection. But they only allow it for non-commercial use.
Anyway, perhaps it's possible...i would sure like to see metadata from Beatport as an option (if possible).

Hi,

I noticed that they had an API after Timbersaw's last post. I reached out to Beatport the same day but I have not as of yet heard back from them 🙁

My Yate's trial period has ended today, so I purchased the full version of it, because it's truly the best software for tagging and sorting music. Well... at least for me 🙂
The only thing that's missing is beatport support, so the opportunity of having it included in future sounds like an amazing news. Please, keep us updated on the matter and keep up the great work. Thanks!

Welcome 🙂

It's now five days and they still have not got back to me.

If some of you out there are registered on Beatport you might try reaching out to them and expressing your desire to have Yate be able to get at their metadata.

As their API is OAUTH based they will have control over access. I'm sure they require a user login to set the keys up correctly.....so they will know on a per user basis who's getting at the data.

I've sent them requests for an API key twice at this point. They've not even replied. 🙁
